With apologies to Bob Dylan, our title today is not just a bad pun; it’s a reminder not to overthink your writing. Editing can come later, but if you edit yourself while you’re writing,
you won’t write very much at all.
So turn off that mean voice in your head and just WRITE!
Today’s prompt:
Set your timer for 5 minutes and write a paragraph that includes the line ‘She never told me that.’
Good luck!
I’ll post mine shortly.

“So, basically you just took something out of her bedroom without asking?”
I didn’t like the way Sandie was looking at me, like I was a common thief or something.
“Well, yeah. It’s practically mine though, she said she was going to give it to me.”
The necklace was beautiful, and Mom kept promising to give it to me, but she kept wearing it herself, and she just didn’t hand it over. I got sick of waiting.
“And you don’t think she’ll notice it’s missing, or, worse, notice you wearing it?”
I hadn’t really thought about that. I had only been thinking of how perfect the purple stone would look at my throat, a perfect match to my purple skirt, with the white shirt for contrast. I would have to sneak the necklace out of the house and put it on at the dance.
“Well, I’ll put it on at the dance. I’ll get it back to Mom in the morning. She’ll never notice.”
“This is a bad idea Michelle. That’s your Mom’s favourite necklace. Her Dad gave it to her right before he died.”
“Oh. She never told me that.”
